以前
before / formerly

Wǒ yǐqián shì xuésheng.
I used to be a student.
后来
afterwards

Hòulái tā hěn gāoxìng.

Use 然后/后来 to sequence events, and 刚才 for something that just happened.
我刚才在学校，现在在家。
I was at school just now, now I am at home.
他吃米饭，然后写作业。
He eats rice, then does homework.
我以前不认识他，现在认识了。
I didn't know him before, now I know him.
我经常去图书馆。
I often go to the library.
飞机终于起飞了。
The plane finally took off.
