Business Chinese LV.3 — Introduction — Welcome! What This Course Covers

Panpan
Welcome to Business Chinese LV.3 — the most advanced course in this series, building on LV.2. This course moves into higher-stakes, more nuanced territory: sophisticated negotiation, conflict management, persuasion, and tactful speech in high-pressure situations — negotiating equity in a joint venture, coordinating a product-recall crisis, or preserving goodwill at a formal banquet. Every lesson now unpacks into 10-15 conversations, and natural chengyu (Chinese idioms) start appearing where they'd genuinely occur. This course sits at an HSK 5-6 level, for learners who've finished LV.2 or already have advanced Chinese.

Today's Grammar

This level emphasizes negotiation, persuasion, and face-preservation (面子) under pressure — pay attention to indirect phrasing used to protect a long-term relationship.

这个问题我们需要从长计议。
Zhège wèntí wǒmen xūyào cóng cháng jì yì.
We need to think this through carefully for the long term.
双方各让一步,或许能达成共识。
Shuāngfāng gè ràng yí bù, huòxǔ néng dáchéng gòngshí.
If both sides give a little ground, we may reach a consensus.
这样处理,既顾全大局,也照顾了双方的面子。
Zhèyàng chǔlǐ, jì gùquán dàjú, yě zhàogù le shuāngfāng de miànzi.
Handling it this way protects the bigger picture while preserving both sides' face.
